Apple® iPod Nano Review By Matt Butler

The Apple iPod series has brought rich, lushful, sound quality to many with it’s first generation of iPods. Now, 5 generations later, that same quality lives with Apple’s own music store, iTunes, bringing along an enormous library of songs at your disposal. The iPod Nano, is that wonderful, little mp3 player that you see on TV all the time. While the iPod is sleek and looks great, the Apple firmware is also user friendly. I bought an iPod 1GB in Black, and I must say that it has been a great little mp3 player. Here’s a break-down of what I’ve experienced and heard about this little gadget.

The Innovation
Unlike any other mp3 player out there, the Apple® iPod features a handy click-wheel. All you have to do is run your finger around the wheel and click the center button to get to what you want!

Also, this awesome mp3 player features a built in flash-drive instead of a hard-drive, so none of your songs will ever skip!

Another great innovation is the Full-Color LCD screen. A 1.5 inch screen has never look this good! I think the screen looks better on the Black version of the iPod Nano because of the color blending, but rest is assured, both versions of the iPod look great on their own!

Songs, and Sound Quality
The sound quality is great, althought it really depends on what bitrate your song is, and the overall quality. All songs that come from iTunes are encoded with 128 kbps which is great sound quality and is today’s standered. Do you have a massive collection of CD’s. Fear not, for you can copy songs from CD’s into the iTunes library, and then transfer them to you iPod.

Storage
As I mention before, the iPod Nano features an integrated flash drive, currently available in 3 different versions. There is the 4GB(1,000 Songs), 2GB(500 songs), and the 1GB(140 Songs). Now depending on what type of person you are and your song genre choice, 1,000 songs is deffiently enough in my opinion. Besides, How many of those are you actually going to listen too?

Issues
The iPod Nano may have a minor setback for some people. The iPod Nano smudges very easily and it’s more evident on the Black version rather than the White version. I recommend that you buy a case for your iPod Nano or Video as soon as you get your iPod to prevent scratches and smudges. Looking for an ipod Nano?

After nearly 3 and a half months of use I thought I would let you know how I have made with my Brother HL-5250 Laser Printer.

I still like it a lot! It has performed flawlessly for what it is designed to do. The black and white graphics (this is a monochrome printer) are presentable for newsletters and fliers where color graphics are not needed.

This printer really excells at text printing. The text is crisp and clean.

The features I use the most are “duplex printing” and “booklet printing”.

Having the ability to print on both sides of the paper with out any interaction on my part makes the duplex printing a great time saver and a great paper saver.

The booklet printing is great for printing newsletters and e-books.

If your looking for a moderate cost monochrome laser printer with network capabilities check out the Brother HL-5250 Laser Printer. You just might be suprized! -:)

Having purchased computer parts from mwave.com at least half a dozen times. I have to say that I like doing business with them.

Things I like about Mwave:1. They have a fairly decent selection of name brand of pc parts for home pc builders like myself, (I love to build my own computers).

2. While not always the cheapest, they are usually very competitively priced.

3. Shipping is reasonably fast.

Things that could use improvement:

1. Website navigation. Their web site navigtion is not a deal breaker but I find it mildly difficult to navigate their site quickly.

I always make it a point to check mwave when I am looking to buy computer parts or accessories. I picked up a nice Arock motherboard bundled with 512 megs of ram and an athlon cpu at a killer price for the kids computer at Christmas.

I recently built a new system for myself and I ended up going back to Mwave and purchasing an MSI Neoforce 4 motherboard from them. Both times they had the best price including shipping) for the exact make and model of motherboard I was looking for.

All in all Mwave is worth a look , if you are in the market for computer parts or accessories.

Check them out today and let me know what you think. If you have another favorite store you would like to share with us, please let us know.

nVidia GeForce Video Card Match Up

As the years come and go, technology standards shift from year to year. Gamers are pushing for higher frame rates in each new generation of games, Such as Half-Life 2, BattleField 2, Counter-Strike Source, and WarPath. In my gaming history I have had 3 video cards. They are the nVidia GeForce 4 MX 440, the Integrated nVidia GeForce 6100 Chipset, and my current graphics card, the nVidia GeForce 6800.

In my research I tested all video cards in Half-Life 2, BattleField 2, CS:Source, and Warpath, as I said earlier. Since Half-Life 2 is the top competitor in these waves of games, it will be our “Primary Game”

First up is the nVidia GeForce 4 MX 440, a 4-year-old video card featuring 64 megs of memory on the card itself, and no pixel pipelines. This Card chugs along with DirectX 7 hardware level. This might have been good some 4 years ago, but not today.

We are big fans of the nVidia Brand. The GeForce 6800 and 6600 GT came out on top with an impressive 182 and 154 frames per second. The Geforce 4 MX 440 chugged along at 11 fps, and reminded us all that the MX 440 was not intended for games of this quality; then again it was made 4 years ago, and was a good card at the time.

The Integrated 6100 chipset did a good job in other games, however, it did not compare to the raw power of the 6800 and 6600 GT. Over all, there is a HUGE increase in the fps from the 6100 to the 6800. With 256 megs on board the card, it is a beast to reckon with. Look for the 6800’s big brother, (the 7900 GT) to heat things up later on). But for the time being, the 6800 and 6600 GT are great cards, and will deliver great quality for the current, and next generation of games, for gamers. Kudos to nVidia for creating great graphics processors.

With the 12- Pixel Pipelines on the 6800, you can increase the shadowing power by 100%. I personally recommend that you pick up one of these cards while you can, with great performance, and great speeds, (due to the duel 400 Mhz Ramdacs into the 6800), how can you not have one?

If your looking for a reliable, reasonably priced laser printer the Brother HL-5250 laser printer may be just what you’re looking for.

After spending hours and hours (or so it seemed) researching monochrome laser printers I decided to purchase the Brother HL-5250 Printer.

After upgrading to Windows XP Professional 64 my old Canon multipass inkjet was not compatible. Sadly, it did not appear that a compatible driver was going to be forthcoming.

I didn’t need photo quality printer. Just something to print documents, envelopes and the kids homework. The Brother 5250DN fit the bill. In addition it met 4 other criteria I was looking for in a laser printer.

1. It had to be networkable.
2. It had to be relatively economical to operate.
3. It had to have duplex printing capability.
4.It had to be reasonably priced.

After two months of use I am very pleased with the performance of this printer. It has operated flawlessly. Check out the Brother HL-5250 laser printer today. It just may be what you’re looking for.

After spending what seems like hours researching DVD recorders I’ve almost settled on the Liteon 5005. The Liteon DVD recorders seem to have a pretty good reputation amongst those who have bought them and posted their experiences in online forums.

Unfortunately my HDTV only accepts s-video or component video connections-no HDMI hook up. The Liteon 5005 DVD recorder has both s-video and component video connections plus it will burn to any type of DVD media (DVD -/+R, DVD +/-RW and CD-R/RW).Liteon LVW-5005 DVD Recorder

I’d like your opinon.

1. Do you own a Liteon 5005 DVD Recorder or anothe Liteon DVD model?

2. What have your experiences been with it?

3. Do you have any alternative suggestions?

4. Is there another model or brand of DVD recorder that you would suggets purchasing?

Please let me know what you think. Thanks for stopping by.
